Highlights from our Magic Hour session with Derric and his family.

Derric is a sophomore at Eastside High School in Butler, Indiana.  Almost one year ago, just shy of his 15th birthday, Derric began to experience pain in what felt like his teeth.  This progressed to a “knot” like lesion under his eye.  After visits to the dentist and doctor, it was felt that he had a sinus infection.  One morning Derric awoke feeling numbness in the right side of his face.  This led to a CT scan, an MRI and ultimate discovery of the mass.  The biopsy revealed that he has Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma or ARMS.

After months of aggressive chemotherapy that resulted in a 30lb weight loss and a tremendous loss of strength, Derric is starting to feel better. With the help of an awesome oncologist here, a crew of wonderful nurses and a lot of hope and prayers,  Derric is slowly gaining weight and strength back with the help of physical therapy. He will finish his last chemo treatments on May 2-3, 2016. “We hope and PRAY in the few weeks thereafter that the PET scans come back NED (no new evidence of disease)!!!”

Thank you to Derric, his parents Joe and Teresa , sisters Briggan and McKenna for sharing your story.  It was an honor to meet you and help you to capture memories.  Congratulations to Briggan and her fiance Jeff on their engagement!  You can follow Derric’s progress on his Facebook page Team Derric Team Derric

A big thank you to Olivia Koob for assisting!  I couldn’t have done it without you!  *credit for the fairy trail brushes and butterfly to www.obsidiandawn.com

Kayla

This smart, talented beautiful Homestead Senior is looking forward to attending Purdue next fall to pursue a degree in engineering.  She plays the saxophone in the Anonymous Blue Show Choir Band.  Kayla’s and Heather’s moms surprised them with a BFF session, so we had back to back fun!  I wish you all the best!  Happy Spring!

Homestead Varsity and Junior Varsity Dance Photo Shoot at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory

What an incredible way to break up the dreary days of winter!  Concepts shoots are the best opportunity for creativity.  It starts with an idea, then scouting the perfect location,

and having the dancers plan and coordinate attire and poses unique to their individual personalities all before a single photograph is taken.  Last year, we had the opportunity to

shoot at the Allen County Courthouse Homestead Dance at the Allen County Courthouse, so this year we decided to showcase another  feature attraction

of our hometown, the beautiful Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory.

The Homestead Dance Teams have had an outstanding season so far under the very talented and dedicated coaches, Britney Lombardo and Ashlie Manor and director Jennifer Bay.

With Varsity winning the Regional Championship in AAA Jazz, Duo, and Small Ensemble with a First Runner up finish in Hip Hop and Large Ensemble.

The Junior Varsity took the Regional Championship in both JV Jazz and Hip Hop.

The Middle School Teams are

enjoying a fantastic season as well.  Summit Middle School won the title of Regional Champion in Junior High Jazz, Hip Hop and one Junior High ensemble, the second JH ensemble

placing 3rd. Woodside Middle School had a 4th place Regional finish in JH Jazz and JH ensemble.  All of the teams will be heading to State Finals!  Be sure to Cheer them on! The Varsity DancersDSC_3792DSC_3793DSC_1577DSC_1565DSC_1487The Junior Varsity DancersDSC_1582DSC_1609DSC_1506DSC_3784

Emily

Dance Photography is my absolute favorite.  I was so excited to photograph this lovely dancer.  Emily had a nearly 50 degree day in January for this session.  We were able to capture the outdoor photos at Metea Park before the rain and then finish with more traditional studio photos.  I’m happy to say that we aren’t finished!  We still plan on another outdoor dance shoot and a Senior session as well.

Emily plans to become a professional dancer.  I wish her all the best! Merde! (For those not in the dance world, it’s also an expression of luck 😉 )

Christina Sprang Kistler - These are breathtaking!

Leslie Lucas Blastick - AMAZING

Michelle Ruiz-Giusti Picon - Wow!
